Creativity Hijack

While we have the gift of life, it seems to me the only tragedy is to allow part of us to die- whether it is our spirit, our creativity or our glorious uniqueness.”-Gilda Radner

A group of students sat perched on some cement steps busily sketching beloved grassy center area of a high school. The passionate art teacher had spent two months nurturing their intelligence in order for them to take ownership of the creativity that resided within each of them. Suddenly, another teacher walked over, peeked at a student’s paper and laughed as he proclaimed, “A kindergartener could have drawn that!”. “Poof”, with that careless statement, the student’s creativity had been hijacked.

How many times do we allow people to hijack our creativity? Sometimes we never find it again within ourselves. These powerful gifts given to each of us so that we may share them with the world become hidden inside of our comfort zone. Please join me in declaring today that-MY CREATIVITY IS POWERFUL AND UNIQUE. I WILL ALLOW IT TO SHINE IN THIS WORLD FOREVER.
